Hi Everyone,
This blog post is
going to be about creating a simple skincare routine for your skin type. First
and foremost, your skincare routine should be simple and suitable for
your type of skin. Daily skincare routines should not be overly complicated,
meaning it should not have ten plus steps, from ten different product
companies.
Instead, I want you
to use treatments that work well with the unique properties of your skin. This
will help you have a better understanding of which treatments work best for
you; therefore, the subtraction or addition of advanced treatments may or may
not be necessary in your routine. All in all, just think intuitively, do your
research, and most importantly pay attention to your skin!
With that being
said, I believe there is an everyday essential list of products that every
person should use, regardless of skin type. This essential skincare routine
will really help to fine-tune your regimen, so that you are eliminating
unnecessary steps, but also so that you are not leaving out the fundamentals.
Now let us get
started!
1.
Product: Cleanser
- Cleanses the face
of impurities, dirt and/or makeup
- Make sure it is a
facial cleanser. They are specifically designed for our faces, so as to not
disrupt the natural occurrences of the skin.
2.
Product: Toner
- Helps bring the
skin back to its proper PH (5.5), after washing your face. Use immediately
after when skin is still damp for best results.
- Surprisingly,
even water can disrupt the natural Ph of our skins; therefore, the sooner you apply
toner to your skin after you wash it, the better off for your skin.
3.
Product: Serum
- The purpose of
serum is to treat general skin irritants such as redness, and or dryness in
order to achieve a brightened appearance.
- Serums help the
skin hold in moisture, firming and lifting the skin, helping to diminish
wrinkles and dark spots.
4.
Product: Moisturizer
- Moisturizer
nourishes and hydrates the skin, keeping the surface appearance smooth and
radiant. Overall, moisturizers generate a youthful appearance.
- Day: Use
moisturizer with sunscreen to protect
your skin from sun damage. Sun damage speeds up the aging process of your skin.
- Night: Use a
moisturizer that contains ingredients that will help your skin repair while you
sleep; hence, the term beauty sleep.
The reason why I
wanted to write this article is because I read, see, and hear so many different
things about skincare routines that can be quite overwhelming when you are
trying to choose the right products to put on your face. The key is to keep it simple and make it about your skin!
I listed four
essentials that should be in your everyday skincare routine regardless of your
skin type, and the sequence you want to apply these products morning and night.
Cleanser
| Toner | Serum| Moisturizer
The purpose of this information is to really
hone in on a routine that all skin types can benefit from. We all have
different types of skin and we want to focus our skincare line based on our
needs.
Therefore, if you want focus on your struggle
areas such as acne, breakouts, oily or dry skin, or slowing the aging process, you can use
products that are geared towards them.
For example, I use the RE9 Anti-aging skincare
set from Arbonne International. I will list product links below to show you all
what I am referring to. The RE9 Anti-aging set has a cleanser, toner, serum,
and moisturizer all for the purpose of anti-aging. However, you might differ,
and you may need an acne skincare regime that will treat your
breakouts; therefore, you will want to find a cleanser, toner, serum, and
moisturizer that are all working together to fight your breakouts. Do you
understand where I am going with this?
One more thing, there are additional treatments
that you can include in your skincare routine; however, I did not want to
elaborate further on that topic because I am trying to keep things very
organized and simple so that you can do this at home without having to think
twice about what you are supposed to apply next.
What I mean by this is with my anti-aging
skincare line, I have additional steps that I like to include because of my
skincare goal, youthful looking skin. Therefore, I incorporate other
preventative measures such as the use of nightly resurfacing pads, eye cream,
and the occasional night repair mask too. I will use the acne example again to
explain. If you are using a skincare regime that deals with acne and breakouts,
the incorporation of acne spot treatments might be necessary.
Thank you all for reading.
I hope I simplified the skincare essential list
and sequence for you all.
If you have any questions about your current
routine and products you are using, I am here to guide you!
xoxo
