The Scary Truth About Your Cosmetics & Skincare

Hello,

Today I am writing an informative blog post about the scary truths of our cosmetics and skincare. The purpose of this post is to educate, bring awareness, and to be proactive. This information might scare you or make you want to turn the blind eye; however, let's get real! We are going to face this issue head on before it bites us in the @$$ and fills us with regret. Nevertheless, let us not fall down that dark path, but instead embrace the enlightenment I am about to shine on your beautiful and/or handsome faces. :)

Well, it's no secret that there is a bunch of junk in our cosmetics and skincare. Whether you care or not, that is entirely up to you. However, regardless of your point of view, this crap that you put onto your skin will have its effect on your body and health. In order to avoid this potential issue, educate yourself on the products you use for you and your family.

Our skin is the largest organ of the body. It absorbs all that we put onto our skin. Ingredients absorb through the skin, and then throughout the body in attempts to serve a purpose. This is where the issue begins if you are uninformed about harmful and toxic chemicals in your products. Although your personal care items may be serving its purpose in some capacity, many of the ingredients out there may be causing further harm, whether it is short or long-term. There also may be additional additives that are completely unnecessary. If you buy from large retail and drug store chains, your products most likely contain toxic chemicals, and/or excessive ingredients that are detrimental to your health.

Did you know that personal care products are one of the least regulated industries in the U.S.? (Safecosmetics.org) Yikes! Considering that this industry is worth billions of dollars, this really does not sit well with me. This means that there is so much garbage out there in our cosmetics and skincare that are going unnoticed and unregulated, but yet we apply it on ourselves, loved ones, and children with care and trust! There are plans out there in action to potentially fix and better monitor these problems, but it is a s l o w process; plus, there is so much out there that the FDA lacks control over it all.

In the meantime we can be proactive about what we purchase because there are currently some great products on the market that are on the ball when it comes to safe and non toxic chemicals that are beneficial for you! (Phew)

Just do your research, and you will be good to go! I have saved you time by  providing a toxic chemical list of ingredients to avoid, a product company that I trust 100 percent, along with recommendations and tips!

I was not always well-informed about this subject, but through time that has changed for the better. I have developed an awareness that allows me to make better choices when it comes to cosmetics and skincare. Although I am not perfect, I am a work in progress. When it comes to the cosmetics and skincare I use on a regular basis, you better believe that I am almost always using pure, safe, and beneficial products. On special occasions and when I film tutorials for YouTube there might be some exceptions, but just know that I am in the process of throwing out all the trash and replenishing my inventory with the good. It takes some time. I am a beauty enthusiast by nature, so I have spent a great deal of money on cosmetics and skincare, and if I throw everything I own out all at once and restock, I would go into debt! Nevertheless, I do it as I can, which is usually on a monthly basis.

My pure, safe, and beneficial products I use on a daily basis are Arbonne products. I am able to trust this product company because I have done my research on their product ingredients. I have so much faith in this company that I invested into the business by becoming an independent consultant for them. This means that I will receive commission on all products purchased at my product website (www.jadedodson.arbonne.com). Here you will find more information about the strict ingredient policy and standards Arbonne adheres too; as well as, information on joining my team.

I have had a great deal of experience with Arbonne products. I support and speak with good faith about the company because I have had success. I would never promote about anything I did not like or use just because I would be getting paid. This view is based off of my personal experience.

Looking for tips on trustworthy companies? Visit safecosmetics.org, do your research, read labels, refer to the toxic chemicals cheat sheet pictured above. This is a personal preference for me but personal care products that are vegan, and especially animal cruelty free earn major bonus points in my book. I am continuously looking at different personal care products that are not the Arbonne brand too. I am a makeup junkie, and I need and want special cosmetic items that Arbonne has not yet developed, so I browse elsewhere. Lately, I have been eyeing Tarte Cosmetics; they too have a better ingredient formulation than most high-end cosmetic lines. I would also love to hear your suggestions as well.

I wanted to share this information with you because it is a topic that I care a lot about. In this day in age, it seems that at some point everyone gets cancer or an illness later on in life, and at times way too soon. You always wonder where it all originated, and if it was something in your diet, or cosmetics and skincare that could have triggered it. I believe my effort to buy and use pure, safe, and beneficial products will hopefully prevent or slow down any ailments that ever come my way. I strongly believe that it will improve my quality of life in the future. I hope that my approach will inspire and encourage others to do the same.

Whether you have learned something new from this blog post, or I have merely reiterated information that you already knew and apply, I just wanted to thank you all for taking the time to read my post.

xoxo
